Los Angeles, CA, September 28th, 2012 — “CHiPs” star Larry Wilcox is scheduled to appear at the 9th Annual 10-4 Day benefit this October 4th in Hollywood. The event benefits the California Highway Patrol’s 11-99 Foundation, its Broderick Crawford Benefits Program, and the LAPD Museum and Benefit Fund.
The day will include a special ceremony at Broderick Crawford’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, (Crawford played CHP Chief Dan Mathews in the popular series “Highway Patrol” that ran from 1955-59, and his son is deeply involved with the 11-99 Foundation as his way of honoring his legacy.) and a parade featuring law enforcement officers from the CHP, the LAPD, and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, those who played them on TV and many vintage police vehicles. Wilcox, who enjoyed reuniting with his fellow CHiPs castmates earlier this month to celebrate the series’ 35th anniversary, says he’s looking forward to the event.
“These personal appearances are my way of expressing my gratitude to the policemen, firemen, FBI and other such agencies,” he said, “ I had a good time and am grateful for the police roles I have played and hope that I have given more than I have taken. I have spent 60 years putting my signature on my life, serving my government and country in Vietnam to doing some public service now. I like to wallow in the joy of such memories instead of the misery.”
Wilcox, 65, has been a supporter of the CHP and the 11-99 Foundation for several decades and this year, as in years past, will once again participate in the parade both as a show of support and as a nostalgic nod to the show that made him famous.
